Frequency Specific Microcurrent

As school is in full swing, it is common for students to get anxiety about all these new routines, new teachers, friends changing, and their sports season to name a few.

How do you know if your child is stressed out?

Here are things you can look for (source: The MayoClinic Health System):

  • Emotional outbursts or increased irritability
Stress leads to stronger feelings of anger and irritability. Your children may have emotional outbursts that are inconsistent with their previous behavior or the current situation.
  • Trouble sleeping
Worries and fears seem to come out during bedtime. Children who are stressed may have trouble falling or staying asleep, or start having nightmares.
  • Withdrawing from others
Children who are stressed may want to spend more time alone and not interact with friends or family.
  • Struggles with school
Significant changes in your children’s school performance can be a sign of stress. Stress makes it harder for children to focus during the school day or when doing homework. Emotional outbursts and anger at school can cause trouble with friends and classmates.
  • Frequent headaches or stomachaches
When children are stressed or anxious, their bodies release the hormone cortisol into the blood. This can trigger abdominal cramps and headaches.
  • Increased defiance
Children under stress may feel angry or overwhelmed. They are seeking ways to get out of the situation that is causing them to feel uncomfortable. This can lead to defiant and stubborn behaviors.

Here at Worthington Optimal Wellness, we have an easy, holistic approach to treat anxiety, health and wellness.

This is a pain free method that is is widely used by Doctors and Chiropractors, including the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Center for Pediatric Integrative Medicine.

Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM for short) is a pain free, low voltage electrical stimulation that works just like the natural currents of the body, at a cellular level. These currents are set to specific frequencies to target particular issues within the body, potentially improving outcomes for conditions such as anxiety and overstimulation.

While our FSM machine is programmed for over 30 different conditions, this month we are focused on the Calm Sympathetic Protocol.

The “calm sympathetic” aspect refers to the focus on modulating the sympathetic nervous system, which is part of the autonomic nervous system responsible for the body’s “fight or flight” responses.

In therapeutic contexts, calming the sympathetic nervous system can help reduce stress, anxiety, and other conditions related to overstimulation or hyperactivity of this system. The goal is to bring about a state of relaxation and balance.

FSM does require a time commitment to feel it’s full effects as it works off the body’s natural healing ability. Patients commit to 3-12 visits per protocol being done as prescribed by our doctors. These visits range from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the protocol being performed.

Give us a call, and/or talk to your doc at your next visit to see if adding FSM is right for you or your child!
