Summer is a great time for picnics but not for back pain. And if someone is challenged with the need for food, they can’t even imagine a nice family picnic.

For the entire month of July, we are collecting food for people in need in partnership with the Worthington Resource Pantry.

Please bring in a few food items (non-perishable) when you come in for your next appointment to add to our contribution.

Hunger is a natural physiological response to the need for nourishment and energy.

When we don’t eat for a certain period, our body sends signals that indicate the need for food. However, prolonged hunger or lack of access to adequate food can lead to malnutrition, weakness, fatigue, and other health complications.

To address hunger and ensure proper nutrition, consider the following:

  • Seek help, Food assistance programs: If you’re facing financial constraints and struggle to afford food, explore local food assistance programs, such as locally at the Worthington Resource Pantry. For central Ohio Food agencies, click here.
  • Regular meals: Establish a routine for regular meals and snacks throughout the day to maintain stable blood sugar levels and avoid extreme hunger.
  • Balanced diet: Include a variety of nutrient-dense foods in your meals, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats.
  • Portion control: Pay attention to portion sizes to ensure you’re consuming an appropriate amount of food for your needs.
  • Hydration: Drink an adequate amount of water throughout the day, as dehydration can sometimes be mistaken for hunger.

Remember, for both back pain and hunger; it’s essential to consult with healthcare professionals who can provide individualized advice based on your specific circumstances.

Back pain is challenging and significantly impacts a person’s well-being.

Back pain can be caused by various things, including muscle strains, poor posture, sports injury, arthritis, or underlying medical conditions. Back pain can affect your ability to perform daily activities, work, and sleep properly. It can be a persistent issue that requires proper management and treatment.

  • Chiropractic adjustments:  a chiropractor as a doctor who cares for any kind of muscle, bone or joint pain or dysfunction. (ClevelandClinic.org) Research shows that spinal manipulation can help relieve pain and improve function in people with acute low-back pain, one of the most common types of back pain. We aim to reduce pain, improve spinal alignment, and enhance the overall function of your whole body.

  • Massage: According to the Mayo Clinic, massages can ease pain and muscle tightness which will, of course, reduce pain. We are proud to say that we have several excellent massage therapists to choose from.
  • Rest: Give yourself time to rest and avoid activities that worsen the pain.
  • Heat or cold therapy: Applying a heating pad or ice pack to the affected area can help alleviate pain and reduce inflammation.
  • Exercise and stretching: Engaging in low-impact exercises and stretching routines under the guidance of a healthcare professional can help strengthen your back muscles and improve flexibility.
  • Posture and ergonomics: Proper posture and proper ergonomics while sitting, standing, and lifting heavy objects can prevent or reduce back pain.

If you’re in pain and need some care, please give us a call and/or make an appointment to be seen by a Chiropractor.
