Every day there is another article in the paper about treating the opioid crisis.
Since opioids are the leading cause of death in Americans under 50, this concern is understandable and urgent.
As usual, the discussion we here most about is about treatment, not prevention.
We are now spending billions cleaning up a mess that the drug companies and medical doctors created.
So what can you do now to solve this issue?
Join in the discussion!
On Monday night April 23, 2018, we will be speaking to Drug Safe Worthington and the whole Worthington community on solutions. Drs. Keiser, Shannan, and Harris along with Dr. Timmons from Fitness Matters will address this issue with some positive, preventive answers.
We will discuss the current Opioid epidemic and how it is impacting Worthington youth.
Opioids are the leading cause of death for Americans under 50 years of age and rank 2nd in teens for most misused substances.
Our panel will discuss non-pharmacological strategies to correct the cause of injuries and pain. While pain and anti-inflammatory medications may mask the pain or dysfunction, they can cause more harm than good.
Many childhood and sports injuries are medicated without addressing the underlying condition thereby allowing the problem to worsen and cause permanent damage.
Whether the concern is a torn ligament, migraines, concussions or joint pain, there are safe and proven treatments available without using drugs or surgery.
Please join us and the rest of our community at Thomas Worthington H.S. on Monday, April 23rd.
The event is free and includes dinner, a panel discussion, and youth activities.
Monday, April 23rd: 6:00 for dinner or 6:30 for the program.
